NCAA Tourney teams by conference - as of Thurs.i think that Kentucky played their way in today beating florida. 12-4 in the SEC and finishing without one of their best players in patrick patteson might be enough to get them an at large bid. |

NCAA Tourney teams by conference - as of Thurs. Some very interesting picks. Here's the conferences I disagree with you: I think the ACC will have 5 teams in - either Va. Tech. or Maryland will make it in. Big 12 - only 5 teams - I don't agree with Oklahoma getting in. I think only 7 teams will make it from the Big East - I don't see Villanova making it. I think UNC-Asheville will win the Big South and get the automatic bid. When you wrote this on March 6, I would have agreed that the Big 10 would only have 4 teams in but the Ohio St. beat Michigan St. today, so they may have a shot at getting in - depends on how they do in the B-10 Tourney. The Big West is up for grabs between CS-Northridge, CS-Fullerton, and UC-Santa Barbara. I believe UC-SB is on top right now. I'd like to see Wagner get in but most seem to think Robert Morris will win their tourney and get in. I'd hate to see both Arizona and Arizona St. get in - they both have losing records in the PAC 10 and I just don't think a team with a losing record in the conference should be in the NCAA Tournament (unless they win their conference tournament). In the SEC, I think either Kentucky (they have been coming on of late and their conference record is very good, even though their overall record is not stellar) or Florida (though Kentucky beat them today) will get in, rather than Ole Miss. Any particular reason that you're picking Utah State over Boise State in the Western Athletic? I like that you're picking 2 teams (W. Ky. & S. Alabama) from the Sun Belt Conference. Most seem to think that only one team will get a bid from that conference. My preference is for more of the mid-majors/smaller schools to be in the NCAA Tournament. I like to root for the underdogs. It was great when George Mason made it to the Final Four a couple of years ago. It doesn't happen too often though and some of the smaller conferences don't seem to be as strong this year, so there probably won't be as many At-Large bids going to the mid-major schools. |

NCAA Tourney teams by conference - as of Thurs.Well..first off..seeing as Winthrop won the Big South title..UNC Asheville can't get in..so that's eliminated. |
