Why in the world are people ALREADY crying...

Posted on: March 31, 2008 7:02 pm

...about Kerry Wood?  He pitches one bad inning and people have the guts to say, "the same old" Kerry Wood???  The same old Kerry Wood was the pitcher that had the most electrifying stuff in baseball.  He was able to lead the Cubs and be the strikeout pitcher that he is.  Be patient.  Kerry Wood has the veteran presence and he's adjusting.  He's used to being a starter, but has learned how to pitch out of the bullpen.  This is a learning experience and everyone just has to be patient.  Same thing goes for Eric Gagne.  He isn't learning, but he was at once the best closer in the game.  I can't believe how unbelievably patient some people are...One game doesn't mean a season..

..Just like this loss doesn't mean a season...

You never know we miss the playoffs by one game we may be looking back to this one. But I agree we need to calm down about Wood. I do not blame Wood I blame Lou for Wood being in there because he shouldn't off.

What a start to Kosuke career though that has me at least somewhat happy tonight!!!

He gets brought in during a non-SV situation during a very intense game, and he struggled a bit. It's like he's a rookie (cause its his first season as a closer) again, but I'm sure you remember how good he ended up being as a rookie. The game means very little, and anyone who takes something very significant out of it is just making up BS. All it means is that the Cubs are down one game in the standing, you can't make conclusions based on one game. Are Tigers fans jumping ship cause they lost to the Royals?...I doubt it

The only think I resent is that I have to wait til Wed to get some payback

O yea I hate that whole off day deal just play 3 games and have the off day on Thursday!!!!

I just hope we hammer Suppan I guess he hasn't done very well in spring training but I think he has always done pretty well against the Cubs unforunately. I'm just saying it is one game and every game is really equally important but you do put less value because it is so early. I just hope we don't get swept is all I would hate to be 3 back that fast. I don't think it will happen but you just never know baseball is a funny funny game sometimes.

We lost the opener last season and the Brewers won there's and we won the division so the first game is very over hyped.

Why in the world are people ALREADY crying...

It's a long season, and over 162 games the Cubs depth and talent will prevail hopefully...

Why in the world are people ALREADY crying...

People are crying because he beaned the first batter he faced.  You could hear the thud of the ball hitting Rickie Weeks over the radio.  (I thought poor Ron Santo was going to have a embolism.)  He then proceeded to give up the first run of the year and the lead in the game after 8 innings of scoreless baseball.  This isn't the Kerry Wood that Cubs fans idolized in 1998 or 2000.

Wood has gotten older and more brittle.  In fact, Wood has shown Cub fans NOTHING to get excited about in the last 5 years, much let alone anything place their faith in.  What Wood has shown is a penchant for injuries and poor outings.

Broither, you're a Cubs fan.  I'm a Cubs fan.  We all want the same thing.  Just win, baby.  Just win.

It's because we live in a now society.  Most people wants everything right now.  It's borderline impatience.  Woods shouldn't even be in the bullpen.  He still got a lot of good years ahead of him.  True Baseball fans knows that this is a Marathon and not a sprint.
